SOUTH
OF NOWHERE BOOK
Tom
Lynch, the creator of South of Nowhere,
has decided to put together a book of fan letters, emails,
and personal essays about South of Nowhere.
The hope for this project is to show the reader about
the emotional journey that took place behind the camera
in the making of this series as well as the journey
that the viewers had. Enraged, shocked, joyful, insightful—Tom
has had all types of responses to this show from being
hailed as break-through to being condemned. The book
will include behind-the-scenes info, photos, interviews,
etc. that cover the show’s entire run. There will
be some information in there that no one’s had
the chance to see before—particularly about South’s
early days and the creative process behind the scenes
that made the show work.
Obviously the Tom Lynch Company
has already received a ton of letters from South
fans over the years, particularly thanks to the Save
Spashley campaigns. (Let me tell you that yes, Tom did
read and save everything that people wrote.) Letters
and emails from the past will make up a significant
part of the book. But Tom wants to hear from even more
people than have already written in. So now we are asking
for more input from the fans. We’re looking for
anything and everything having to do with the South
fandom: letters, personal stories, fan art, whatever.
At this point, it’s up to you.
If you’re interested in
having your experience with South included
in this book, please send an email to carrie@tomlynchco.com.
You don’t have to have written to Tom Lynch in
the past to be part of this. So if you want to submit
something this time even if you didn’t before,
go for it. And if you already sent something in through
Save Spashley but want to submit something new, please
do! (An important note: if you did send anything in
as part of Save Spashley, please indicate that in your
email and include your name and address so I can match
you up with your previous letter.)
You will not receive any compensation,
credit or other remuneration if your material is accepted
for publication. Not all submissions will be accepted
for publication. Unpublished submissions will be returned
in good faith effort, only if they include a self-addressed
stamped envelope, otherwise they will be destroyed.
You will need to sign
a release form in order for your material to be
included. If you are under eighteen years of age, a
parent or guardian will also need to sign the release
form on your behalf.
Again, email me at carrie@tomlynchco.com
if you want to take part in this effort to remember
South of Nowhere. Feel free to send
along any questions you have too. I’ll be in touch
as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Carrie Wade
